Dancing is a very natural movement, an extension of walking and running.
As we dance we engage and explore the sensory side of our fascial system. Both our intero- and propriception; – that is our internal feelings and intuitive sensations and our perception of our body’s position in the space around us are stimulated.
We engage our limbic system evoking emotions and memories, and our auditory system as we listen to the music and then allow our bodies to interpret that into movement
Combining a lifelong love of self expression through dance as well as Fascial Fitness training, Yvonne has trademarked her version of fascial dance as FunKi Fascia. Firstly, it is designed to be ‘fun’, paramount to a healthy life and combined with your individual ‘Ki’ (Japanese word for energy flow, air, breath, mind, spirit, feelings, humour) to make it personal to you, hence the spelling FunKi!
Done barefoot to get maximum stimulation from the ground upwards Yvonne suggests some dance moves to encourage multidirectional movement and lengthening of your fascial net as well as tapping into your natural rhythm or ‘vibe’ and encourages you to explore and express your sensory being through your own moves to a range of music and rhythms.
Keep moving and grooving!
